Caring for our CareGivers
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has certainly cast a spotlight on the entire Care sector like we've never seen before. At Right at Home, our CareGivers have been an indefinite pillar of strength for the local community over the past 15 months or so, who have all worked hard to keep our lovely Clients safe and well-cared for from the comfort of their own homes. It has been so encouraging to see the Nation’s response to our sector and there has definitely never been a greater appreciation for the tremendous work that our CareGivers have done, and continue to do all year round.
At Right at Home Solent we aim to deliver the highest level of home-care within Southampton, Fareham & New Forest East and surrounding areas. Although it is an incredibly rewarding job, of course we understand it also comes with its challenges; this has never been more prevalent than during the Coronavirus pandemic over the past few months. For all of us at Right at Home Solent, the well-being of our CareGivers is an absolute priority. We care for all of our lovely CareGivers in the same way they care for our Clients.
Throughout the pandemic we have wanted to show all our of our CareGivers out appreciation for them and their continual hardwork through the toughest of times. We provided all of our CareGivers with regular 'well-being calls' to make sure that them and their clients are all doing ok, we sent every single one of them a Superhero postcard to thank them for all their hard-work & even joined the Nation in applauding them every Thursday night at 8pm!
But unfortunately, many family carers in the community do not have the same support system that paid CareGivers do and it is evident that the demands of caring for a loved one full-time can be especially difficult to manage. Some people have become a full-time family CareGiver gradually or on some occasions, there may be a younger carer who has had to take the role on suddenly. According to the National Charity Carers UK, every day another 6,000 people have to take on a caring responsibility at home; this equals approximately over 2 million people each year. Without the right support in place, this role can have a big impact on a Carer’s own mental health and wellbeing.
At Right at Home Solent our CareGivers wellbeing means so much to us and we always want to make sure they are always supported, cared for and listened to. Thank you to all of our lovely CareGivers that have worked with us throughout the pandemic to keep our Clients as safe, happy and healty from the comfort of their homes!
