Tips and Advice To Help You Have an Amazing Job Interview
Have you recently landed yourself an interview and are currently looking for some tips on how you can prepare as much as possible and smash your interview? At Right at Home Solent, we recently asked our Recruitment Coordinator, Emma, who interviews people day in, day out, what tips/advice she would give to someone with an upcoming interview to help put you at ease and help you do everything you can to make sure the interview goes well.
As someone who works in Recruitment, a large part of Emma's job is conducting interviews, so it is only expected that she would pick up some advice on what to do, as well as what to NOT do in an interview. Here is what she thought:
At Right at Home Solent, we thrive off providing an Outstanding level of care around Fareham, Gosport, Southampton & New Forest East, but in order to continue providing this level of care to our clients, we must hire the best of the best CareGivers; which is why our interview process is extremely thorough, as we only want to recruit the best. Here are the top three interview tips that our Recruitment Coordinator, Emma, shared.
Interview Tip #1
Emma's first interview tip, is to 'always come across confident'. Of course it is normal to be nervous for a job interview, or any kind of interview, but just remember to be yourself and be confident!
Even if you are not feeling confident in your interview, there are a few things you can do to make yourself come across as if you are. Always make sure you make good eye contact and maintain strong body language, these are great ways of making it seem like you are more confident than you probably feel inside. Also, make sure that you really think about answers, a sign that someone is feeling uncomfortable, is that they begin rambling. Make sure that you are confident in your answers, don't talk too much, just relax and think carefully about what they are asking you and what you are going to say.
Interview Tip #2
Emma, Right at Home Solent's Recruitment Coordinator, also advises people to ALWAYS come prepared. It doesn't matter what the interview is for, but always do as much preparation for the interview as you can; whether that's reading up on the company or thinking about what they might ask you. It is common for employers to ask you in an interview 'What do you know about us' so make sure you do your reading on them beforehand to really impress them!
Interview Tip #3
The third and final tip for a good interview, which is probably the most obvious, but be punctual! This is a really simple tip, but it's surprising that are people that are still late for job interviews. We understand that sometimes it can't be avoided, but make sure you do everything possible to ensure that you are on time; and if there is a good chance of you being late, let the employer know. The thing about interviews, are that in any sense, interviews are someone's first impression of you, and this is regardless if it's a job interview or not. But specifically in regards to job interviews, being late is not what an employer is going to want to see in an interview, so make sure you're on time!
