The Right at Home Solent Induction
In order to become a Care Assistant with Right at Home Solent in Fareham, Gosport, Southampton & New Forest East, there is no specific experience requirement; as we offer a fully-comprehensive Induction for all of our new Care Assistants as well as ongoing Training throughout their career with us. Rather than having specific qualifications, the main thing that we ask of you is that you have the desire to make a genuine difference to the lives of others.
Everyone who is successful is put on our three days Induction, which covers everything that our Care Assistants need to know before going out to work. Sam our Client Relationship Lead, is one of the main Induction trainers, and we asked her some questions about what she thinks about the Induction that we offer.
As one of the lead Induction trainers, what differentiates the Right at Home Solent Inductions to those of other companies?
At Right at Home Solent, we offer a three day Induction covering a vast amount of knowledge, to ensure that all of our Care Assistants are going out primed with the right information and knowledge they need to be the amazing Care Assistants know they will be. Other care companies in Fareham, Gosport, Southampton & New Forest East offer a much shorter (or sometimes no induction at all) which doesn't give their Care Assistants a chance to properly get to know about the companies values and expectations. We also pay an £180 Induction bonus, which other Care companies in Fareham, Gosport, Southampton & New Forest East don't offer; so everyone is paid to train with us!
What do you enjoy most about teaching Induction?
What I love teaching the Right at Home Solent Induction is the practical sessions; it's really great to get people involved and it’s a good way of testing their knowledge without quizzing them.
What are the main objectives for the Right at Home Solent Induction?
The main objectives for the Right at Home Solent Induction is to ensure our all of new Care Assistants in Fareham, Gosport, Southampton & New Forest East, have a great initial understanding of our company values and what we stand for and our expectations of them, also to ensure that we have signed them off on their practical sessions with medications, moving and handling and basic life support.
What do you do to make the Induction more enjoyable for Inductees?
We have a variety of people teaching it so it isn’t the same person for the whole three days. Everyone from the office does a different talk, covering different elements of the Induction; which gives the new Care Assistants an opportunity our office team! There are also more interactive parts of the Induction, which makes it more enjoyable and means that our new Care Assistants aren't sat in the same place doing paperwork for the whole three days. We also provide them with an amazing lunch!
We also asked Michaela, who is one of our new Care Assistants at Right at Home Solent; in Fareham, Gosport, Southampton & new Forest East. Michaela was on our Induction last week, we asked Michaela what she thought about the Induction. This is what she said:
What did you think about the Right at Home Solent Induction?
"I thought the Right at Home Solent was absolutely fantastic. It was very clear and very well organised. What I really like is that was multiple members of the team getting involved in the Induction training, even Kev, the Managing Director at Right at Home Solent, which I've never seen before. There is plenty of Interaction so the training isn't boring, they make it as enjoyable as they can for all the new Care Assistants. Sam, the Client Relationship Lead, and Anna, a Team Leader, were particularly good, they were really nice and made me feel really comfortable. Everyone in the office, including those who weren't actually doing any of the training, came into the Induction and introduced themselves, which I thought was really nice."
You’ve worked in Care before, how was the Right at Home Induction different to those you've had before?
- The Right at Home Solent Induction was a lot more sociable. We were all encouraged to answer questions and get involved!
- I noticed instantly that all of the Induction staff and Induction trainers were much more considerate than those I've met before, this made me feel at ease and excited to start my career with Right at Home Solent.
- It felt very comfortable. All of the office team were friendly which made me feel at ease!
- Right at Home Solent provided Food & Drink was provided - and it was amazing!
